Small Business Expo — Supported by the Largest Mixer

The Small Business Expo, which took place on May 18th, promised to inspire and it did just that. Taking place at Sahara West Library in Las Vegas, the seven hour event brought 25 different businesses together to provide the ultimate small business expo.

With fantastic speakers like Robin Jay, whom discussed the keys to a successful business, and John Assaraf, who talked on the science of business growth and success, among others, they inspired and challenged the group to make small business dreams reality.

The economic conditions in which the local community has endured have greatly challenged the business community and the spirit of entrepreneurship. The Small Business Expo was conceived as part of the Library District’s commintment to provide library materials and services that respond to the needs of residents, including in the area of economic development. To this end, over the past several years the Library has partnered with agencies and specialists with small business development expertise to provide training and informational resources aimed at helping the business community weather the tough times.

Optimist International – Pacific Southwest Division is Exhibiting at LA’s Largest Mixer®

The Pacific Southwest District of Optimist International

Optimist International is, as the name implies, an international service organization with the mission of providing hope and positive vision in “Bringing Out The Best In Kids.” Along with living the Optimist Creed, we Optimists envision being recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential. One of the best examples of how we accomplish that vision is the Optimist Youth Home in Eagle Rock, where over 100 boys, who would otherwise be forgotten, are given the chance to become all that they can be. Additionally, we coordinate the Junior Blind Olympics each year, and we put on a “Camp Country Jamboree” each year in Santa Clarita for kids with cancer and their siblings to provide them with a few days away from the stresses of hospitals and treatment.


The Pacific Southwest District (PSWD) is one of 40 Districts in Optimist International, with 65 Optimist Clubs, mostly in Los Angeles, and also stretching from Madera to Ridgecrest, in the north and east, and to San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles, in the west.
